It’s officially ice-skating in NYC season, which means ice skating rinks across New York City, Brooklyn, and Queens are opening now.


Looking for a great place to go ice-skating in New York City with your kids? We've rounded up indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks in New York City and nearby. Head to an outdoor ice rink in the winter months, or enjoy indoor ice-skating year-round. Whatever the season, you'll find complete details on each rink's location, cost, and public skating hours in our guide. Note: Skating dates are projected and may change pending weather conditions. We recommend calling ahead to confirm skating hours and COVID-19 precautions before visiting any of these locations.

Ice-Skating Rinks in NYC

1. Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park

Price: Admission to the rink is free, but skate rentals are $15-$45. Skate sizes kids 6-4 and adults 5-14 are available.

2. The Rink at Brookfield Place

Enjoy ice-skating in NYC at this water-side rink in Manhattan’s bustling Downtown area. The rink offers public skating, private lessons, birthday parties and special events packages. There are also Skate with Santa days on Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at 10:15 and 11:30 am, and 12:40, 12:45, 1:55, and 2 pm. Some of these time slots are solo Santa performances. 3. The Rink at Rockefeller Center

Set in the world-famous Rockefeller Center, this rink is one of the most popular holiday attractions in New York City. Enjoy skating and take photos with the beautiful Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree as your backdrop. 

4. Wollman Rink

A mainstay in New York City for more than 70 years, this outdoor ice skating rink in Central Park offers public skating, neighborhood events and artistic programming. 

5. Riverbank State Park

This NYC ice-skating rink is not only a fun place to skate, but you could also get in a good workout before you take to the ice. It has a fitness center, Olympic-size pool, tennis, basketball, handball and paddleball courts, even a 400-meter, eight-lane running track with a football and soccer field. There’s a restaurant, too.

6. The Rink at Manhattan West

Manhattan West, a new NYC dining and entertainment spot, is kicking off its first-ever holiday programming with the launch of a new outdoor ice rink. As part of the destination’s holiday lineup, the rink will host Skate With Santa, a festive family-friendly series on Dec. 5, 12 and 19, from 11am-3pm. More information about the series is on the website.

7. Governors Island Winter Village Ice-Skating Rink

A year-round NYC ice skating destination since 1969, this rink offers public skating, birthday party packages, and programs for youth and adults, including adult skate clinics—because it’s never too late to learn to skate! Head to the roof of Brooklyn Children's Museum to skate on an eco-friendly 3,200-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink. It's specially designed for skaters of all ages and skills. Visitors can lace up their skates and glide around under the sparkling lights of BCM's rooftop canopy. While on-site, guests can also enjoy festive music and explore a mini-village of winter playhouses, designed for open-ended play.
