Sylvan Learning Center Now Offering Swim, Robotics, and Coding Programs

Sylvan Learning Center is offering a Summer Learn & Swim Special in partnership with Goldfish Swim School and a ½ Day STEM Workshop with Code Ninjas.

Sylvan Learning Center will be offering two new programs this summer in partnership with Goldfish Swim School and Code Ninjas. The Summer Learn & Swim Special at Goldfish Swim School in Farmingdale began on Wednesday, July 17 and will continue each Wednesday through August 7. The ½ Day STEM Workshop with Code Ninjas began Wednesday, July 24 and will take place each Wednesday through August 14 at Sylvan Learning Center in Huntington and Saturdays through August 17 at Sylvan Learning Center in Mineola.

The Sylvan and Goldfish Summer Learn & Swim Special workshops for children ages 7-12 will be held Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-3:30pm at Goldfish Swim in Farmingdale. The workshop consists of one hour of robotics and one hour of swimming. Workshops are limited to 12 children, allowing instructors to work with each child on their robots and coding projects. The remaining dates for the Learn & Swim Special are July 31 and Aug. 7.

“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to have fun creating a robot and then swim with their friends on a hot summer day,"  says Patricia Russo, executive director of Sylvan Learning Center of Huntington.

The Sylvan partnership with Code Ninjas will offer children three different coding classes at the Sylvan Learning Centers in Huntington and Mineola. Rising fourth graders through seventh graders will take three different types of coding classes in each workshop: Javascript coding, cybersecurity instruction, and Roblox game exploration. These programs will expose your child to computer safety skills, game concepts, and basic game development while providing an opportunity to develop communication, collaboration, and social skills.

Classes are offered at the Sylvan Huntington location on Wednesdays from 9am-12pm beginning July 24 and continuing until Aug. 14.  Classes are also offered at the Sylvan Learning Center of Mineola on Saturdays from 10am-1pm beginning July 27 and ending Aug 17.

“Parents seem to really like the idea of their child learning about cybersecurity in game form, its fun and teaches valuable skills.” says Patricia Russo.
