5 Great Strawberry Festivals in New York and New Jersey

It’s officially strawberry season! Families across the tri-state area can enjoy picking strawberries at several farms in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In addition, there are a few strawberry-themed festivals happening within driving distance from New York City. From treats and rides to music and crafts, check out these events happening in the coming weeks. 

Strawberry Festivals in New York

Garden of Eve Organic Farm & Market

The only certified organic U-pick strawberry field on Long Island, Garden of Eve’s strawberry festival includes unlimited access to its U-pick organic strawberry field, family fun fields, pedal karts, hay tower, farm animals, spider web, and more. However, the fee doesn’t include the cost of berries.

Mattituck Strawberry Festival

The Mattituck Lions Club is hosting its 66th Annual Strawberry Festival over Father’s Day weekend. Stop by for some strawberry shortcake, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and more strawberry-themed goodies. There will also be rides, live music, and more than 100 arts-and-crafts vendors. All proceeds benefit nonprofits on the North Fork.

There will be plenty of strawberries, shortcake, and other treats, as well as banjo music and tours of Old Grace Church, Delancy Floyd-Jones Free Library, and the Elbert Floyd Jones Cottage. Be sure to also check out the raffles, craft vendors, and free face painting for kids. Festival events and performances are subject to change due to NYS safety guidelines.

Visit the farm for strawberry picking (of course), hayrides, face painting, and pony rides. There’s also a market where you can pick up fresh strawberry doughnuts, as well as a variety of strawberry-themed treats (jams, jellies, preserves, salad dressings, etc.)

In addition to picking a box or basket full of strawberries, visitors can also enjoy food vendors, pony rides and train rides (at an additional cost) on the weekends, as well as a car show on June 13. In addition, Father’s Day Berries & Brew on June 20 will feature live music and Jersey Girl Brewery serving beer (admission for this event is $7.95 per person). Cost of admission doesn’t include berries. Reservations are required. Additional tickets will be released the week of based on picking availability.
