2 Skating Rinks are Coming to Industry City this Winter

Brooklyn's Industry City will offer families two ways to stay active this winter: an outdoor ice-skating rink and an indoor roller skating disco.

To kick off the holiday season, Industry City in Brooklyn will be home to two new skating rinks to enjoy this winter: an open-air ice-skating rink and an indoor disco roller rink. With the opening of both skating rinks, Industry City hopes it will offer New Yorkers something to look forward to in a year when the COVID-19 pandemic has canceled so many things, as well as something to remember for years to come, said Jim Somoza, director of development at Industry City.

The Industry City Ice Skating Rink

It’s an outdoor, uncovered ice rink (so be sure to dress in layers—and don’t forget your hat!) that has increased in size since last year. Plus, a nearby bar, operated by Frying Pan Brooklyn, will be serving hot cocoa and snacks, making it a great outdoor spot to bring a little cheer to your family this winter.

Dreamland Roller Rink by Lola Star at Industry City

Lola Star and her Dreamland Roller Rink is returning to Industry City after a successful debut in 2018. This indoor roller rink will bring immersive holiday fun with themed roller disco parties.

“Roller skating has exploded in popularity this year. So many decided to start because it’s the perfect way to stay fit, decrease stress, and have fun while social distancing,” said Lola Star, founder of Dreamland Roller Rink. “Right now, the world needs the experience of collective joy, so I am thrilled that Industry City has given me the opportunity to create these safe experiences of collective, roller disco joy.”

Hours: December-March 2020 (exact opening date is TBA). Toddler Skate Party: Saturdays, 10-11am; Kids Skate Class: Saturdays, 11am-12pm; Family Skate Extravaganza: Saturdays, 12-3pm. See website for adult classes and skate hours.

Location: The indoor roller rink is located in the Factory Floor in Building 1.

Cost: $12-$28 (skate rentals are included in admission). Tickets can be purchased online or in person.

Visiting Industry City

Face masks and social distancing are required at all times when guests are visiting Industry City and while skating at either rink.
