City Parks Foundation’s Annual Free Summer Sports Program Continues in Queens

Thanks to the City Parks Foundation, kids can enjoy free lessons and summer sports leagues in a variety of sports.

We all know that an active lifestyle is important for children and young adults, whether that be through individual sports like tennis or track, special needs teams, or just a regular fitness routine. One of the easiest ways to get kids involved in a healthy lifestyle is by enrolling them in a sports program. However, that can be expensive, from registration fees, the cost of lessons, and the cost of purchasing uniforms and equipment. Thankfully fitness for your kids doesn’t always have to be so costly. This summer, the City Parks Foundation is providing FREE Summer sports lessons, leagues, and equipment in a number of sports.

Kids can choose from a number of sports options including tennis, golf, soccer, track and field, and general fitness classes. These leagues and lessons are available in nearly 70 locations for children ages 6-17.

The tennis program is tailored to the children’s age group, skill level, and whether or not they want to compete year-round or just in the summer. To find locations and times that work for you, consult the CityParks 2018 Tennis Schedule. Though online registration has closed, you can still register in person at your desired location.

The golf program runs this summer from May through October. You can still register for their August beginner’s session online, but other sessions may require an in-person registration.

The track and field program runs from spring through the end of summer for children ages 5-17. Registration is still open, both for individuals and groups.

The soccer program is for kids between 8-12-years-old and runs from July through August. Online registration is not longer open, but walk-ins are welcome.
