Bryant Park's Reading Room Announces Event Line Up

Bryant Park's Reading Room Announces Event Line Up

Enjoy summer in the city with a book....or two!

On April 2, Bryant Park's Reading Room will return, giving New York City kids and their parents a chance to discover new stories in this beautiful midtown park.

This "Open Air Library" was created after the Great Depression to provide intellectuals a chance to experience culture for free. According to the website, the modern version includes, "custom-designed carts for books, periodicals, and newspapers; public readings and programs at lunchtime and after work; and kid-sized carts and furniture for children. The programming, publications, and environment of the Bryant Park Reading Room are available to everyone for free, still without any need of cards or identification."

Books will be placed on shelves in between the park's benches and kids can pick one and read to themselves while enjoying the park's scenery or they can join one of the story times that will be offered starting in the summer.

Kids' Saturday storytime will take place at noon from June 30-Aug 18 and there will also be storytime on Tuesdays at 10:30am for kids ages 3–8 which runs June 26-Aug. 14.
